The Cliff Suite
62m². Private terrace, freestanding bath, the loudest sea you'll ever sleep through.
Boutique inn · Est. 1962 · Aegean coast
Talasea is a small family-run hotel cut into the cliffside above the sea — half-shaded by olives, half-open to the wind. Long lunches, cold pools, late dinners, and the same view your grandfather would have stared at.
The house
Talasea began as a fisherman's cottage in 1962 and has grown — slowly, deliberately, never more than one wing at a time — into the twenty-four-room house you'll find today. Every room faces the sea. Every meal is shaped by what the boats brought in that morning.
We don't have a concierge desk, a gym, a lobby bar, or a brand standard. We have a dining room, a kitchen garden, three saltwater pools, and a staff of eleven who have, between them, worked here for two hundred and thirty-one years.
The rooms
Twenty-four rooms across the main house, the garden cottages, and the cliff suites. Every room has an open window, a real key, and a view of the bay.
All rooms →62m². Private terrace, freestanding bath, the loudest sea you'll ever sleep through.
48m². Hand-cut stone tub, two robes, and an arched window opening onto the western light.
38m². 600 paperbacks, a velvet armchair, and the only working chimney on the property.
54m². A free-standing two-room cottage among the olives. Outdoor shower. Lavender at the door.
The kitchen
Lunch is served from one. Dinner is served from eight. There is one menu and it is decided by Stavros at the harbour each morning. We will gladly accommodate, but we will not gladly be ordered.
Garden eggs, two breads, fresh ricotta, the day's preserves, plenty of coffee.
Five small plates and one large fish, eaten slowly under the arches.
Wood-fire kitchen, a single table d'hôte, paired with the small island wines.
The place
We sit on the western face of the island — far enough from the harbour town to feel quiet, close enough that you can walk in for an evening glass of wine and walk back along the path with the lanterns lit.
A walking village of 800 — bakery, two tavernas, the daily market, the small bookshop and post office.
A whitewashed chapel on the north headland, walkable through the olive grove. Sunrise is unforgivable.
Two crossings a day to the mainland. We can arrange the car, the boat, and the lunch en route.
Guests
The kind of place where you forget which day of the week it is by Tuesday and don't remember again until you leave.
The dinner on the second night was the best meal I have eaten in seven years of restaurant work. The room was a poem. The bath, an essay.
We came for three nights and stayed eight. They did not flinch. Our taxi did. Talasea is small, slow, and entirely the point.
Reserve
Two nights minimum, four nights for the suites. We hold the dining room for our guests, so reservations are confirmed by hand within forty-eight hours.
